Engine Yard Blog

Engine Yard's blog has a large readership and is one of the biggest sources for new users. I was tasked with optimising the flow to the site as well as making the user experience more engaging and user friendly.

Hero images

I created hero images for technical posts to make them more clickable across social media and to add quality to articles to make them stand out.

Collections

I introduced the concept of collections which allowed the content creators to group together related content into a comprehensive resource on a specific subject. Collections were made to be shareable and a perpetual resource, bringing people back to the Engine Yard site. They also functioned as methods of ensuring new users could explore a great list of resources easily and quickly, making them come back for more in the future.

Ads and prompts

I created a variety of prompts across the blog that pointed readers to the main site. The prompts are subtle so as not to get in the way of the reading experience or alienate potential customers. The prompts are spread throughout the content (7 different places) so that each interaction with the blog might prompt the user to visit the main engine yard website and/or inform them about Engine Yard.
